This new option (available January 2005) will provide
students with an introduction to Web technologies that will give them
a solid foundation to work in Web-based sectors of the economy. The
degree is multi-disciplinary and exposes students to the design, networking,
and programming areas of the field. This program offers current Web
Certificate students the opportunity to continue their study and specialize
in Internet technologies for an Associate of Applied Science Degree.
The Associate of Applied Science in Web Development is designed to prepare
students for entry-level employment as: Web Site Designer, Web Developer,
Web Programmer, Web Server Administrator, Web Marketing Manager, or
Web E-commerce Manager.
Students learn to integrate client-side and server-side
technologies to build and manage real-world web-based applications The
program provides students with necessary skills for creating and managing
web sites using the most current technologies including: HTML/XHTML,
CSS, UNIX, Oracle/SQL, web scripting technologies (PHP, JavaScript,
ASP, Perl/CGI), and web application database technologies. Students
also gain the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully complete
several industry-recognized certification exams including Net+, Microsoft
Certified Professional (MCP), Novell’s Certified Network Administrator
(CNA), and the Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW).
