When you open Nvu for the first time, you will see the following:

The main Nvu application will open in the background. The Nvu Tips dialog box will open in the foreground. To stop the Nvu Tips dialog box from displaying everytime Nvu is opened, click the checkbox next to the Show tips at startup option within the dialog box. Click the Close button. If desired, the Nvu Tips window can be activated again through Nvu's Help menu.

On the left side of the Nvu application window under the toolbars, you will see Nvu Site Manager (outlined in red below). Click the X in the top part of this section to close the Nvu Site Manager. We will not be using the site manager during this tutorial. Closing the site manager will provide more workspace for webpage development.
