APA Citation Style
APA citation style is used in nursing. The information and samples here are based on the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th ed. (2001) which is located in the Reference section of DCCC Library (REF BF 76.7 .P83 2001).
Citing sources in the body of your paper

In APA style, citations in the body of your paper - parenthetical citations - include the authors' last names and date. If the authors' names are used in the text, only the date is used in the citation.

The treatment of diabetes includes .... (Jones, Smith, & Green, 2003).

Jones, Smith, and Green (2003) state that the treatment of diabetes includes...
